Horseback Riding
A trip to the circus
Program participation that includes learning about and/or interacting with animals

About Lissie

Aliscia Renae Ball, better known to her friends and family as "Lissie", came into this world on November 19, 1987 in Charleston, WV. She was a quiet child who loved to play with her toys and watch videos. Her favorite toys were her Lion King toys, her precious puppies figurines and her Littlest Pet Shop. From the time she was 3 years old she had pets of all kinds-dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, turtles, snakes and spiders. Lissie loved all of God's creatures. She was fortunate as a child to be able to go to the zoo, circus, Sea World, state fair, horseback riding, etc. and see all types of animals.
Lissie was also a very creative person, who loved to paint, draw, write poetry, make jewelry and listen to music. She was a hippie at heart who loved anything tye-dyed.
As she grew older she began working as a dog groomer and her dream was to one day own her own dog grooming shop. On August 10, 2008 Lissie and her dog, Bizkit, where involved in a flash fire inside her car that left them both badly burned. While Bizkit recovered, Lissie fought hard for 65 days on life support in the ICU Burn Unit at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA before she died on October 14, 2008 at the age of 20.
It is the wish of Lissie's mother, Melinda, that all children be exposed to animals of all kinds and allowed to develop their love for them just as Lissie did. Join in making this wish, Lissie's Wish, a possibility to children who might not otherwise get the chance to experience a pet or an "animal encounter" by clicking the donate button at the bottom of this page.
