About Angelique

Angelique is 32 years old and lives in MD

Angelique entered the foster care system at the age of 5. During a period of instability she was placed with her biological aunt and uncle. While she was in high school she lost both of her parents and impacted her significantly. Angelique fought through this tough time and graduated from college and went to community college. Soon thereafter, she transferred to a university and obtained her degree in psychology. During her time as an undergraduate student she began to take part in advocacy initiatives to encourage resources for foster youth to have access to education resources. Through this pursuit she was selected to be an intern on Capitol Hill in 2015. After her internship she became a staff assistant for Senator Debbie Stabenow as well as a consultant for the Capacity Building Center for States. After a year and a half she became a legislative correspondent for Senator Sherrod Brown. Angelique is passionate about how policy impacts the children and families who interface with the system and is determined to highlight and bring awareness to these issues. She has not allowed her experiences to define her but used them to encourage systemic change.
