Ali, 17 years old, CA
Ali and her brother were initially removed from their mother when law enforcement found alcohol bottles in the home within reach of the children. The house was dirty and without electricity. Ali is a passionate and determined young person who has spent many years moving around and through the foster care system in San Diego. To date, she has experienced 23 placement changes due to her response to early trauma and attachment disorders. Due to her many relocations and personal struggles with self-control, Ali is reluctant to trust new people and situations. She is growing in self-confidence and self-advocacy; learning to trust others is hard for Ali, but she is thriving in her unique living situation and gaining new interpersonal skills daily.
