Project Beauty Baltimore is an unplugged photo session where we don't do our hair and we don't wear makeup, we get in front of the camera to show the world that we don't need makeup or filters to be beautiful. We talk about the labels that others put on us and we wipe them away. Participants are asked to come in jeans and a white shirt with their faces clean and their hair natural. The goal is redefining what true beauty really is and how beauty is portrayed on social media. So often teens are bombarded with imagery of what society perceives as beautiful. While this culture has always been around, social media has only amplified this effect and it has put this in the forefront of our teens’ daily lives. With Project Beauty, our goal is to bring natural, true beauty to the forefront of everyone’s social media and bring attention to the fact that teens do not need to look a certain way in order to be accepted by their peers and fit in.
Project Beauty Baltimore will be held on September 26th at Haven Street Ballroom. $25 gets you one of only 12 ten-minute sessions and a digital download of your favorite image. 100% of the proceeds will be donated.
Heather was first drawn to OSW when reading an article about a young boy in need of a suit to attend a funeral and her heart broke for him. She was compelled to help and it sparked a calling to continue granting wishes. Heather said, "What I LOVE about OSW that it is unlike any other charity I have known - you can specifically and with purpose, directly and immediately help a person in need."
Project Beauty Baltimore is hoping to accomplish two things- 1.) Grant as many wishes as possible! and 2.) Spead the word about OSW and these amazing kids so that they can continue to do good through providing an avenue for regular people to affect those in need directly. The more people out there who know about OSW, the better!
