We didn't launch this yet, but we are not giving up. 

Last year we tried to launch Sheltr, an innovative housing, retreat and career development program that would bring together individuals with lived foster care experience and shelter animals in a home setting. Unfortunately we were unable to meet our initial start up goal in 2022.

But we are not giving up. We believe that this innovative, trauma-informed program is necessary and amazing. So, we need your help.

Sheltr will be a home. It will take a word so often used to describe a temporary place during a crisis and make it a healing place for people and animals to feel safe and loved together.

With your donations and our matching gift, One Simple Wish plans to purchase a home in NJ where we will provide housing for shelter animals as we well as education and job training for those with lived foster care experience interested in a career in animal welfare services. The home will also serve as a retreat space for youth, aged out individuals and the public; anyone who wishes to take part in the healing benefits of caring for animals in need.

Animal welfare services is a rapidly growing field with a lot of opportunity and animals have been proven to provide healing and support to those impacted by trauma. We are certain that this program will not only be a success, but it will also bring so much joy, hope and love to so many who need it.
