Since Jacoby was very young, he has been living in a very unstable environment. His mother is a chronic drug user and is sometimes gone for months. His sister has tried to work and pay for their living expenses, but ultimately, they were both placed with relatives. Jacoby wants to get involved with Amateur Athletic Union,(AAU) provides a coaching staff that will mentor Jacoby in his studies as well as his life. AAU is very competitive but will give Jacoby great exposure for college.
