Kareem is a gentle little boy with big eyes that still search for the familiar things he once knew. His family watched their home disappear in flames, losing every piece of comfort they had built together. He remembers the way his favorite blanket smelled, the sound of his toy cars rolling on the apartment floor, and the pictures that hung near the window—none of which survived. Now everything is new, borrowed, or shared, and he clings to the smallest reminders of security, like holding tight to his mother’s hand or keeping his shoes close beside him before sleep. Even with so much loss, Kareem’s spirit shines through when he lines up blocks, pretending they are buildings he can rebuild stronger. He smiles softly when someone shows him kindness, as though he is learning that life can be safe again, one gentle moment at a time.

A tent would be an amazing gift for Kareem because he loves spending time outdoors and exploring nature. He often creates makeshift tents using blankets and enjoys reading books by himself. Having a real tent would provide him with a personal space since he currently shares a room with three siblings. It would also encourage his creativity, as he loves to gather natural items from outside, promoting both imaginative play and learning.
