Cruz is very respectful toward his foster parents and is determined to become important in the US and build a well-paying career so he can eventually help his mother, who is still in Mexico. Cruz has lacked a childhood and is struggling to learn how.
Cruz currently walks to school and back, covering approximately 1.6 miles each way. He could benefit from a scooter to help him get to school faster. Recently, Cruz joined a soccer team for the first time and wants to make it to practice on time without having to walk a total of 10 miles each day. Cruz is in the U.S. alone, as his parents are in Mexico. He is staying in a placement home, and his caregiver works and is unable to give him rides.
