Helemt for Kevin who loves riding his bike

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Kevin recently started a job at a local food store. He is responsible for going to work and returning, on his own. Kevin has a bike that he enjoys riding but is not allowed to use it without a helmet, due to the rules of his placement. Kevin is very responsible and currently walks to and from work daily but would like to ride his bike if he can get a new helmet. Kevin would also like to ride his bike, for fun as he enjoys being outdoors and catching Pokémon.

Kevin is 24 years old and lives in NJ

Kevin is skilled in using a computer and enjoys playing video games. He is a hard worker and does well in school. Kevin is a “likeable” young man and has a great sense of humor. Kevin recently started a job, through his school's career department at a nearby food store and enjoys his independence and being able to receive a paycheck.

Melissa sent an update on the wish for Kevin.

"I was able to meet with Kevin this morning, although I discussed One Simple Wish with him during my previous visit and he "wished" for a helmet he was not able to fully understand why "someone I don't know" would want to get him a helmet. He was absolutely happy and appreciated it, but could not understand why someone, he had never met, would want to help him and care about him. I told him, there are many kind people in the world, like Karen, who are special and have a big heart. Those people like to do good things for other special people like himself. Kevin immediately smiled and said he wanted to say thank you to Karen. I told him I would help write a note to her instead. Kevin said "Thank you for being nice. I am going to get to ride my bike now. I am going to get my pay check from work today". *letter will be sent"

Melissa sent an update on the wish for Kevin.

"I stopped by Kevin's placement for a visit, after I knew he was arriving home from work. I was completely taken back when I walked up the front steps to see Kevin's bike with the helmet on the handlebars. I thought to myself, how a picture is worth a thousand words and captured the moment with my phone. Even in below 20 degree weather, Kevin is still using his bike, along with the helmet, to get to and from work. I want to thank you again, for granting Kevin's wish and let you know he is still very much grateful and putting it to good use. "
