Shay was accepted into the 2018 Foster Youth Internship Program in Washington, D.C. This is a highly esteemed, life-changing youth empowerment program for young adults who have spent their formative years in foster care, offering them the opportunity to intern in a Congressional office for the summer. CCAI provides full service, wrap-around care throughout the internship. However, Shay will need the essential housing supplies such as bedding, toiletries, a dining set, cooking supplies, and Tupperware to name a few.
Shay is 28 years old and lives in CA
Shay was in the foster care system in the state of California and is currently a junior undergraduate student at Mills College, where she is pursuing her masters in Politics & Urban Inequalities with a focus in Public Policy, American Politics, Education, and Woman and Gender Studies. Her prior experience with Hamilton Families as a residential counselor has allowed for an in-depth understanding of crisis intervention which will be a valuable experience in the Foster Youth Internship (FYI) Program.
