An American Girl doll and accessories for Freya who likes to play pretend with her friends

Posted Nov 14, 2018
Freya is a 9 year old girl whose life has been extremely chaotic since birth - being in and out of foster care. She has never had a "real" doll. She is requesting a wish of an American Girl Doll - Rebecca, like one of the other foster children she plays with all the time. Frey's eyes lit up when I asked her if I could grant one wish for Christmas. She did not hesitate to say "Rebecca, an American Girl Doll. She said if she could get one she will be the happiest girl in America, "that's how much I would like one. I would be so happy."

Freya is 13 years old and lives in TX

Freya has been in foster care on and off since birth. She is a very active girl and is always wanting to please adults, seeking their approval. She loves school, but is unfortunately behind. She is learning to deal with her history of sexual abuse by a family member. She is in intensive therapy and is responding very well. She needs to be involved in a lot of activities to keep her busy so she does not have to be constantly reminded of her past.

"Hi Freya! When I was little, I loved American Girl Dolls too! I had one who looked just like me named Katie. She was such a good friend to me. I hope you have lots and lots of fun with your new friend too. Sincerely, Sarah"
