Housing Supplies for Mackenzie to attend the Foster Youth Internship Program in Washington DC

Posted Mar 28, 2019
Mackenzie is a student from Pennsylvania who was accepted into CCAI’s 2019 Foster Youth Internship Program in Washington, D.C. For 17 years, the FYI Program has been a highly esteemed, life-changing youth empowerment program for young adults who have spent their formative years in the U.S. foster care system. The program offers Foster Youth Interns the opportunity to intern in a congressional office and become published authors of a federal child welfare policy report. To help make this program an impactful experience for the interns, CCAI provides full service, wrap-around care throughout the internship. We need your help to provide essential dorm housing supplies such as bedding, toiletries, plates, utensils, cooking supplies, and detergent in addition to other miscellaneous living supplies. We so appreciate your support!

Mackenzie is 26 years old and lives in PA

Mackenzie is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in political economy at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Her advocacy for foster youth started three years ago when she began to participate in the Luzerne County Juvenile Justice Mentoring Program as a mentor. Mackenzie continued to advocate for foster youth as an intern under Judge Jennifer Rogers in the Luzerne County Orphans’ Court, where she was able to express concerns from various foster youths, about their guardian ad litems, to the court. In May of 2019, she will graduate from King’s College and prepare to attend Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in the fall.
