A Mountain Bike for Albert who needs it to bike to his summer job

Posted Jun 14, 2019
Albert needs to bike to his summer job working in a supermarket. He does not have a car and really needs to be able to get around. His foster mother works full time and is unavailable to drive him during the day.

Albert is 22 years old and lives in NJ

Albert has been in foster care since 2014 and has been moved to 5 different placements during this period. Albert is very motivated to do well and works very hard in school. His current high school is so impressed with him that they have sent him to a local community college where he is already working to get an associates degree. Albert is currently being fitted for orthodontics . He is always kind and well mannered and loves to watch sports.

Albert receives the gift from CASA of Bergen County!

"Dear Wish Granter, Albert has just been informed that he is going to be moving to a new home . This has been a surprise for all of us. Because of the way the system works, this is actually due to the fact that he has been doing so well in his current treatment home that he is now not eligible to remain there any longer. He is going to be moved either to a regular foster home or a group home and we still do not know where. As a result I agreed to keep his bike (literally in my office) while we find out where he will be living and I have promised that it will be the first thing we deliver to his new home when we have an address. He is very excited about being able to get around independently on his gorgeous new bike! I know that you will be getting a big thank you from him directly once we have him up and biking around! Many, many thanks, Albert's Case Supervisor We just moved Albert and he just received the bike - I have a photo that i am sadly unable to post due to confidentiality issues. But it is a great picture of Albert on his bike with a big smile! His advocate delivered the bike and wanted to send you this thank you from her - "Thank you for the generous donation of the bike for my teen. He has just been moved to a new placement and this gift was delivered to him almost at his arrival. It will enable him to visit the local library, make trips for shopping and errands or just explore and begin to figure out the lay of the land. It puts everything within reach which is invaluable and will give him enables him some freedom. Perhaps the nicest part about the bike is that it is a gift given especially for him and that clearly feels so good!" "
