A guitar for Earl who dreams of learning to write songs

Earl is a darling boy who gets frustrated with homework which keeps him inside most of the afternoon. He started working with our new mentorship program at Mighty Writers and revealed that he really wants to learn how to play the guitar. We found him a volunteer mentor who is a guitar player and will teach him how to play, the only thing stopping Earl now is that he currently does not own a guitar! A new guitar would allow Earl to explore a new budding interest of playing this instrument.
Earl is 15 years old and lives in PA
Earl is a quiet and creative boy who struggles at school because of a learning disability. Even so, he comes to our homework help workshop everyday and is the first to pull out his books and works tirelessly everyday. He helped us write the movie for movie club this year and his wonderful imagination was invaluable. He loves bike riding, playing outside and math. His poem was selected this year to be published in a youth literary magazine, Philadelphia Stories. He has recently started to fall in love with the idea of playing the guitar.
