From Jahlika:"Though I have had many hardships, including almost becoming homeless and almost being dismissed from college because I was juggling working enough hours to pay rent and still keep up school as a full time student, I persevered. I got my grades back up, gaining a new college scholarship in the process, and halted my eviction process. That was over a year ago now and I have continued to maintain my apartment and continue to increase my GPA. In the future I am hoping to work in the field of public health or become a lawyer. I am entering my last semester now but due to my age I lost some of the scholarship money I used to receive. I cannot enroll in my final semester until I pay my current balance of $2600. With your help I can finish my Bachelor’s degree. Despite my hardship and shortcoming from my past, graduating will ensure that my future is bright."

From Jahlika:"I was in foster care since the age of 15, enduring years of mental and domestic abuse from the hands of people who were suppose to love and care for me. It was hard but being in in the foster care system had its own difficulties, but I overcame them and set goals to not let my past determine my future. Not only did I exceed my expectations of just getting a job and finishing high school, but I also went to college and graduated with my Associate degree; I am a foster care advocate and speak on the struggles of being in care as well as after discharge; I speak with congress members, agencies, and at galas; and now while working and living on my own I am pursing my Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and Psychology."
