A Tablet for Edmund to help him build confidence in communicating

Posted Nov 20, 2019
Edmond is a bright young boy who loves to play educational games online, make videos, and play video games. Due to trauma he has encountered in his life, Edmund has been diagnosed with Selective Mutism. Outside of the home, he really struggles with communicating. He uses a tablet at school to help him communicate and would love to have one of his own that he is able to use in his day-to-day life. Due to his circumstances, Edmond has a hard time making friends and could really use the extra boost of encouragement!

Edmond is 15 years old and lives in CA

At home, Edmond is a talkative, fun-loving, silly kid who loves to play video-games, make videos, play with his dog, learn Spanish, and swim. Edmond has a diagnosis of Selective Mutism, due to trauma, so outside the home he rarely, if ever, talks. Making friends is a challenge but day-by-day, he is exercising his courage and practicing speaking to peers and adults. We are always so proud of him when he tries to speak to someone like ordering ice cream, saying thank you, or all these other daily speaking opportunities his peers take for granted. Edmond excels at school and actually got to go see a Warriors game for being one of the top students in his entire 4th grade last year!
