Groceries for Rebeckah who is struggling to make ends meet

Rebeckah, 47 years old

Rebeckah spent many years in and out of foster care before she finally emancipated from the state of Florida at 16 years old. Approximately a year after her mother’s suicide. Rebeckah’s mother was only 14 when she got pregnant, and was bounced from home to home herself. Rebeckah was considered a ward of the state the day she was born. After emancipating Rebeckah decided to make a life for herself and has held down many jobs throughout her adulthood, including her most recent career with the Apopka Fire Department, where she is able to give back to her community as the receptionist to the Fire Chief.

Rebeckah made the hard decision to switch careers in October to give her and her daughter a better future. That meant taking a temporary pay cut, but the benefits and future promises meant it would be worth it. Unfortunately COVID-19 is making an already difficult situation worse. With her daughter being home, their bills have increased, including their grocery bill. Rebeckah would love to be able to go grocery shopping to stock up their pantry without the stress of everything else lingering on her shoulders!
