Wish To Work
Wish To Work is an innovative new program from One Simple Wish that provides children and young adults who are aging out of foster care or that have already aged out of foster care with the skills needed to secure professional employment. Wish to Work also offers professional networking opportunities and job placement in professional careers.
The Facts
Each year more than 20,000 kids will age out of foster care. Of these children:
- Only 54% will receive their high school diploma.
- Less than 2% will go on to receive a college degree.
- Nearly a quarter of them will end up homeless, in prison or addicted to drugs.
Wish To Work aims to create brighter futures for these children.
Details About The Program and How To Refer a Child
What is Wish To Work?
One Simple Wish’s Wish To Work program offers foster children ages 16-21 who are aging out or that have already aged out of the foster care system, an opportunity to prepare for and obtain professional employment that can aid them in becoming self-sustaining, successful adults.
Wish To Work offers participants an opportunity to attend job training seminars & networking events, to obtain hands-on job experience and to receive skills training in an effort to earn 20 “credits”. Once a participant in the program has earned their credits, they will be assisted through the entire job search and job placement process.
Who can participate?
Any foster child age 16-21 who has aged out of foster care or who may age out of foster care.

Interviewing Skills
Public Speaking
Etiquette
Conflict Resolution
Resume Writing
Community Service
Marketing & Public Relations
Who teaches the courses?
Courses are taught by professionals in the community.
What is the cost to participate in the program?
The program is currently offered at no cost to participants.
