Shyanne, 24 years old, CA
Shyanne entered foster care at ten years old due to neglect and abuse, and then aged out at 18. Her mother passed away when she was one, and during her time in care, she had no family support. This lack of a support system made her upbringing incredibly challenging. Over the years, she faced domestic violence, addiction, and homelessness, but remained resilient. Now, as a single mother to her beautiful daughter, she is attending college full-time and working an internship to help justice-impacted individuals. Her strength, persistence, and natural leadership inspire those around her. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and is passionate about fighting social injustices. Cleaning and organizing provide her with a sense of control. What makes her truly special is her unbreakable spirit—she believes she is made of steel, pushing forward for herself and her daughter’s future with a relentless drive to succeed.
