Emily is pursuing a degree in psychology at Sacramento State while also competing as a member of the university’s track and field team. After a long separation of 13 years, she was finally able to live with her two younger sisters for a brief period before starting college. However, she has always been independent, as she doesn’t have parents or guardians to rely on. This independence has made the transition from high school to college particularly challenging for her. Since beginning her academic journey, Emily has had to navigate life on her own, often leaning on her close friends for support. She deeply values her autonomy and is determined to find resources and opportunities that will help her excel academically.
