Jose is a friendly and articulate ten-year-old with a short stature, big bright eyes, a healthy appetite, and a nice smile. He is outspoken and demonstrates a protective nature towards his mother and siblings, especially since his father moved out of the family home for safety reasons. Jose feels a sense of responsibility and takes on the role of the man of the house. He hopes to join the military when he turns eighteen.
