Kelollie, 9 years old, CA
Kelollie has been through a great deal in their short life, experiencing instability and situations that left them feeling unsafe and unheard. After entering foster care, they moved into their current caregiver’s home, where they finally began to feel protected, supported, and valued. For the first time, they have a calm and consistent environment, and they have expressed that they do not want to return to their previous home because of the fear and uncertainty they experienced there. Despite these challenges, they remain caring, resilient, and hopeful. They are slowly learning to trust, open up, and rediscover what it feels like to just be a kid. Creative activities help them feel grounded, giving them a healthy outlet to express emotions they struggle to put into words. What makes this child truly special is their strength, their gentle heart, and the courage they show every day as they continue to heal and grow.
