Perla entered foster care as a teenager with her younger brother. She was fortunate to have met a very caring foster parent who was her consistent placement throughout her time in foster care. She aged out of foster care at 19 when she was selected for an apartment in the Bronx. She remained in foster care until age 21. She attends college for nursing and just had a baby boy who is now 6 months old. She wants to work as a nurse in a children's hospital.
