Akayla has been in foster care for over nine years. She has lived in foster homes, residential facilities, and is now in her own transitional living program apartment, where she resides with her infant son. Due to her multiple placements, she fell behind in school and is now working to enroll in her district's credit recovery program to earn her high school diploma. She enjoys rapping, singing, dancing, and spending time with loved ones. Akayla is good at math and aspires to be an engineer one day.
