Jessica, 24 years old, CA

Jessica’s life has been shaped by survival and strength from a very young age. Growing up in the foster care system, she learned early how to be independent and resilient. As an adult, she faced domestic violence that forced her and her children into months of homelessness, a time filled with fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion. Even during the hardest moments, Jessica never stopped putting her children first. After a long and difficult journey, Jessica was finally able to secure a safe and stable home. That home means more than shelter; it represents safety, healing, and a chance to breathe again. One of Jessica’s favorite ways to create peace and connection is through cooking. Preparing meals for her children brings her joy and allows her family to gather, talk, and feel close after everything they have been through. What makes Jessica truly special is her quiet strength and deep gratitude. Despite the trauma she has survived, she continues to choose hope, love, and care for her children, building a warmer and more stable future one day at a time.
