Jorge Wants a Family

Jorge wants a family and he's not giving up hope.

In early 2021, the One Simple Wish team was introduced to Jorge by adoption advocate and children's rights warrior, Connie Going. Connie met Jorge when he reached out to ask her if she could help him find a family. At 29 years-old, Jorge is still certain there is a family out there for him to share his love, and his life, with forever.

More about Jorge:

Jorge is an exceptional young man who has a smile that absolutely lights up a room. He experienced brain damage at birth, has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. This absolutely doesn't stop him from achieving his dreams, including attending college for video game design. Due to her own issues and struggles Jorge's mom was unable to parent him or his siblings. It was then his grandmother stepped in and provided him a loving home for him. She was his protector, his angel, and his guiding light until she passed away when he was 13. After living in a series of group homes throughout his teen years, Jorge aged out of foster care without being adopted. He currently is living at a men's group home where he enjoys playing video games, being with his friends, and showing off his DJ skills. Jorge's one hope in life is to find his forever family. He has never felt loved by a family since his grandmother. She loved him unconditionally and Jorge doesn't want to live the rest of his life around strangers that have to take care of him because it’s their job. Jorge is full of love and life and he desperately wants to experience what a real, caring family is and wants so badly to share his love with them.

Did you know?

There are over 114,000 children in foster care eligible and waiting to be adopted. Unfortunately, the average age of a waiting child is 7.7 years old and over 30% will spend more than 3 years waiting in foster care. There are over 80 million Americans who have considered adoption at one point or another, and if only 1 in 500 of these adults adopted, every single waiting child would have a forever family. But this doesn’t happen, and tragically, over 23,000 children end up aging out of foster care without having found permanency. Individuals like Jorge, are still hoping for their forever family into adulthood. The truth is, every single person who has considered adopting cannot adopt, but everyone can make a difference in helping make it possible for each of these incredible kids. Please take a moment to share Jorge’s story and shed light on the amazing adults who are still looking for a family.
