A scooter for Jose so he is able to get to class on time
Jose, 23 years old
Wish submitted by:
CSULB - Guardian Scholars ProgramJose is a transfer student from Pasadena City College and commutes to Cal State Long Beach daily from Pasadena. After graduating with his Associate Degree in criminal justice he decided to switch his major to international studies. Studying abroad two times in Europe was what inspired him to pursue his real passion which is travel. After graduating in 2025 Jose would love to work in the international community perhaps working abroad while also helping nonprofits help other former foster youth transition into successful adults. Giving back to the community and helping others has always been his passion therefore he likely sees himself working for the Peace Corps after graduating or perhaps even joining the military as an officer. Although Jose is still exploring his career paths and searching for internships one thing for certain is that he will be very successful and earn his bachelor’s degree by 2025.
Jose is a full-time student who commutes and walks to class every single day. Those familiar with the size of Cal State Long Beach understand that getting to class may be tiring and exhausting. Stressing about traffic, parking, assignments, should be enough stress but quickly running to classes across campus may be an even bigger challenge. Jose plans on doing federal work study for the spring 2025 semester therefore running from library, classes, and work may be challenging. Modern problems require modern solutions, such as an electric scooter. This will relieve stress and make attending class even more fun. This electric scooter will help him on his trajectory towards success and bring a little sunshine into my life.

"Firstly I wasn't sure if my wish would be granted because I feel older foster youth are usually forgotten however I am glad to see you guys didn’t forget about students like myself. I am incredibly grateful for your gift and your kindness. People like you make the world a better place and truly make a difference on people’s lives. Arriving to class and work will now be a breeze without having to run to class. Thank you once again Emily, Chris, and Will. Happy Holidays :) "
