Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach CountyKyle is currently participating in an extended foster care program, which allows him to stay until he turns 23. As a college student, he is dedicated to overcoming various challenges while pursuing his education in a building construction program, with aspirations of becoming a general contractor in the future. Kyle's journey in foster care began at the age of 14 when his aunt was no longer able to care for him, and his parents have never been a part of his life. He spent his teenage years in a group home until he turned 18. Despite the obstacles he has faced, Kyle remains hopeful and optimistic about his future. When he’s not studying, he stays active by playing basketball, football, and boxing. He treasures the connections he has with friends, often catching up through FaceTime, and finds joy in unwinding with video games. Kyle's positive attitude and zest for life are truly inspiring.
Kyle is on the brink of graduating from high school, and his excitement is palpable as he prepares for this significant milestone. However, he faces a pressing challenge that could hinder his path to graduation: passing the standardized state Math test. Math has always been a tough subject for Kyle, and despite his best efforts, he finds himself struggling to grasp the concepts necessary to succeed on the exam. To overcome this hurdle, Kyle knows that he would greatly benefit from working with a math tutor. After some research, we discovered several remote tutors who specialize in helping students prepare for standardized tests. These online sessions promise personalized attention and tailored strategies to improve his mathematical skills, but there is one critical issue: Kyle currently does not own a laptop. Having access to a reliable laptop is essential for him to connect with his tutor, participate in lessons, and access study materials for the College Readiness Test (CLT). With a laptop, Kyle could not only prepare for the math test but also reinforce his learning through various online resources and tools designed to support students in their studies.
