Dichhaya, or “Dixie” as she prefers to be called, is a remarkable young woman with a kind heart and a resilient spirit. Despite facing more than her fair share of challenges, she continues to move forward with courage and determination. Originally from Nepal, Dixie and her family immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. However, their journey has not been easy. Her parents, who do not speak English, have encountered their own struggles, and Dixie has been placed in foster care. She will remain in care until she ages out of the system. Even in the face of hardship, Dixie stands out. She is warm, friendly, and incredibly sweet—someone who naturally draws people in. She confronts her trauma and anxiety with remarkable strength. She has made significant progress and continues to grow every day. Dixie is motivated, goal-oriented, and never loses sight of her dreams.

Dixie is a determined young woman who just graduated from high school and is excited about starting her next journey in college. She really needs a laptop to help her with her studies and personal goals. Dixie is thinking about going to cosmetology school or maybe a college program in Miami. A laptop would make it easier for her to do her assignments, research, and apply to schools. She’s also eager to keep learning outside of school. Dixie wants to take online CPR courses and enjoys watching makeup tutorials to improve her skills in cosmetology. Having a laptop would open up so many opportunities for her to learn, create, and follow her passions.
