Marta attends college, loves cats, art in many forms, video games, and reading in the park. Her hobbies include performing stand-up comedy and poetry on the weekends, recycling trash off the streets of Sacramento and making it into art, reading local poetry books, and finding new places to eat around the city. Marta entered foster care around the age of 7 years old and was separated from her siblings and put in a group home. She and her siblings cycled through foster homes, her parents given chance after chance. Marta later became a ward of the court and was then placed in a relative placement.. She is the first in her family to graduate from high school and to obtain an associate's degree.

Marta currently takes the bus to school, but she is requesting a purple Schwinn Destiny Cruiser bike to replace the last gift she received from her late mother. Due to years of housing insecurity, she had to part with her original bike, which brought her lots of joy and memories. Having this new bike would not only help her commute to school and her student assistant job but also make it easier to transport groceries, thanks to its front basket and space for a bag in the back. This bike would significantly improve her quality of life while honoring her mother's memory, as it is the same model as her old one.
