A digital camera for Araceli to preserve memories with her siblings
Araceli, 8 years old, CA
Wish submitted by:
Voices for Children - San DiegoAraceli was removed from her home along with her five younger siblings due to emotional and physical abuse by their father. Araceli and her siblings are separated between three foster homes and do not see each other often. Araceli is an active girl who enjoys both art and dance classes, which serve as beneficial outlets.
Araceli has always had a passion for creative expression and the arts, which has intensified since she started taking an art class over the past year. This creative outlet has become an essential coping strategy for her, and her therapists encourage her to delve into her emotions through various artistic mediums. Recently, she has developed an interest in photography, enjoying capturing images that hold personal significance using her foster parents' phones. Having her own digital camera would provide her with a new avenue for self-expression and enable her to explore her creativity independently. Araceli also deeply misses her siblings, and looking at pictures of them provides her with comfort during their separation. When they get the chance to be together, she loves taking photos with her brothers, sisters, and other family members, creating lasting memories she can cherish when they are apart.
