Nintendo Switch for Gwyn to connect and combat loneliness

Gwyn, 18 years old, CA

Wish submitted by:

Voices for Children - San Diego

Gwyn and their siblings were removed from their home, where both their parents physically abused them. Although their siblings were eventually returned home, Gwyn's being transgender made the situation more complex as their parents and family do not accept them. Despite these challenges and hardships, Gwyn successfully graduated from high school and gained early acceptance to college. Gwyn is interested in technology and computer sciences, which they are studying as their major. Gwyn takes pride in being a resource to others who need help with computers or technology, and says this gives them a sense of purpose and worth.

Gwyn just began their first year of college through the extended foster care program. They are struggling with past trauma and living alone for the first time, and are struggling to find their people and establish roots. When removed from the care of their parents, Gwyn lost access to all their belongings, including their Nintendo Switch. Gwyn is struggling to adjust to the college setting and misses the community they met online. Their wish is for a new Nintendo Switch to connect with others, make friends, and regain a sense of belonging.
