Voices for Children - San DiegoJazmina recently entered foster care after her guardian passed away, leaving her with her estranged husband. Luckily, Jazmina was soon placed with a caring foster mother who is helping her regain her sense of safety and self. She is now attending public school for the first time in six years after being homeschooled. Jazmina is doing well academically and is seen as respectful and engaged by her teachers. However, she struggles with socializing and feels embarrassed about her background. Jazmina enjoys making gifts and is interested in taking a dance class.
Since she has been homeschooled for so many years, Jazmina is still trying to catch up on current fashion and hairstyle trends at her public school. Her confidence, previously strong and defined, is now shaken as she questions her identity and struggles to adjust and fit in with her peers. Jazmina has not had a haircut in several years and is hoping to get a fresh cut and highlights to boost her confidence as she finds her way in the world. With the right haircut and a touch of color, Jazmina hopes to not only revitalize her appearance but also to embrace her individuality and express herself more authentically among her classmates.
