After experiencing neglect and abuse, Tehya was recently removed from her parents' custody after she told the officers that "she can always call her Titi (auntie)." She is now staying with her aunt, who is devoted to supporting her healing journey. Tehya is a bright girl with dreams of going to college one day to create a better life for herself and her little sister.

Tehya's foster family recently learned that they will be losing their SNAP benefits in November and could use some assistance with grocery shopping. Groceries on Maui are quite expensive due to their importation, so any help would be appreciated. Tehya is not used to having healthy sit-down dinners with home-cooked meals, but she has started asking her caregiver what’s for dinner each afternoon. It is a wonderful blessing that she is now enjoying nutritious meals instead of fast food or cold meals, especially since her previous home did not have a working oven.
