Liliana has spent most of her life in and out of the foster care system. When she is not in foster care, she has lived with various family members for short periods. Recently, both Liliana and her daughter were placed back into kinship care with her aunt. Despite her challenges, Liliana is a hardworking young woman who is determined to graduate from high school while also managing a part-time job to support her daughter.

Liliana recently started a new job waiting tables at her local restaurant. To ensure she looks presentable to her customers, she needs to buy new sneakers, as her current pair is old, worn out, and has holes in them. Liliana loves that she can also wear these new sneakers to school, especially for gym class.
