Lucy comes from a large family and faced extreme poverty during her childhood, often lacking enough food and healthcare. Her parents did not encourage her to attend school. Eventually, she sought help, and she and her siblings were placed in foster care. After having her baby, Lucy became determined to be a good mother and graduate from high school. She is recognized as a role model among other teenage mothers and hopes to work in the medical field to support young moms. While she is thankful for the hand-me-downs her daughter receives, she wishes she could buy new clothes for her.

Lucy dedicates her time to caring for her daughter and catching up on years of missed education. While she appreciates the hand-me-downs and trips to Goodwill, she dreams of being able to buy new clothes for her 1-year-old daughter from Children's Place. She hopes for the chance to choose something brand new for her little one.
