Maya is a sweet young girl who loves animals. She is very respectful towards others, creative, and eager to learn how to read and write. Although Maya has a diagnosis of autism and a learning disability, this does not deter her from wanting to improve her literacy skills. She is also learning to be independent with the help of her current foster mother, Jennifer, who is teaching her how to follow recipes to cook. In addition to cooking, Maya enjoys taking and editing pictures. Unfortunately, she was involved in a car accident where she tragically lost her mother. Since then, Maya has been placed in four different foster homes. Thankfully, she has now been matched with a wonderful foster mother who is supportive of her needs.

Maya is dedicated to her schoolwork and developing the skills she needs to become more independent. Having a laptop would really help her. It includes useful tools like text-to-speech, visual learning apps, and organizational software, allowing her to learn at her own pace. With a laptop, she could access online classes, job readiness training, and communicate safely with her service providers.
