Church World Service - Jersey CityAlysa was born in Odesa, Ukraine just days before the war broke out. She spent her first month in a bomb shelter with her mom. Miraculously escaping the war-torn area, Alysa and her mom embarked on a long journey, eventually finding refuge in the United States. She's with her mom, but they're struggling. Finances are tight, making it hard to afford housing and daycare. Despite their struggles, Alysa is a happy young girl who loves to play. She especially loves her nighttime ritual of bedtime stories with her mom.
When the bombing started in Ukraine, Alysa was just one month old. Her mom used to sing songs to soothe her to sleep. Now, feeling much safer, Alysa's mom continues a bedtime ritual, which is reading bedtime stories. A cozy place for story time would be the perfect gift for Alysa, which is why this soft pillow is at the top of her list!
