Alma became part of the foster system in February 2024 after her family encountered difficult circumstances. Her mother sought assistance on a community platform where members share resources and support one another. When a volunteer arrived at Alma's home to deliver the requested items, they were alarmed by the living conditions and reported the family to DCFS. As a result, Alma was removed not only from her home but also from her family for a year and a half. Although Alma continues to experience trauma from this separation, she finds peace in her bond with her siblings. Together, they choreograph dances and enjoy spending time outdoors, creating precious memories despite the challenges they face.

Alma has been away from her family for a year and a half, and receiving a bike offers her a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with her siblings. It not only allows them to bond but also gives Alma some personal time to ride around the neighborhood. This simple pleasure can significantly improve her mental well-being and help relieve stress.
