Yoga Classes for Katelynn to help with coping skills

Posted Sep 28, 2018
Katelynn is a young girl with a lot of heart and a lot of resilience. She has been very excited to learn new things like what a Costco is, planning for what she is going to have for dinner every night, the amount of books that are at the library, going hiking, canoeing and attending a Broadway show. Katelynn is slightly overweight and has been working on maintaining and losing weight while in placement. She loves to learn about nutrition and has been at two different summer camps doing various activities which she loved. Katelynn would like to be involved in Yoga to learn a "peaceful way of exercise" and believes that it would help with her coping skills. Katelynn has talked about how she used to be very stressed in school and she used yoga to calm down when she had outbursts.

Katelynn is 14 years old and lives in NJ

Katelynn loves to write screen plays, learn new ways to be active outside/inside and has read over 30 books in the past few months. She has been working on writing in cursive, and has gotten really good at it. Katelynn went canoeing for the first time recently, and loved it. She would love to be an actress whether it is on the news, in a movie, or on Broadway.

The Wish Story

Mary grants the wish for Katelynn! Thanks Mary.

"Dear Katelynn, I love yoga! I have been doing yoga for over 20 years and it really helps me clear my mind, and reinvigorate myself! I like the fact that once you learn the basics, you can do it for yourself, even for a few minutes, when you need to. I hope it helps you, too. Best wishes, Mary"

One Simple Wish sends the gift to the DCP&P for Katelynn.
