Passion 2020 for Krisiona to make lasting memories with her family

Posted Nov 14, 2019
Kristiona was involved in a bus accident in January that caused multiple brain injuries as well as other medical issues that currently prevent her from working. Since then life has been a struggle, but through her determination and strength she managed to graduate with her Associate’s Degree in May. One thing that has managed to keep her strong is her faith and all of the amazing people she met through her college ministry. They have the opportunity of a lifetime this Christmas break, to attend a conference called Passion 2020. However it is located in Atlanta, Georgia and due to her medical conditions, Kristiona is not able to fly. In order to get her there, a bunch of friends who have since become family to Kristiona, have decided they will all roadtrip with her so she is not alone, and is able to go to the conference. It is family, relationship, connection, and growth that mean the most to her. Kristiona would love nothing more than to walk alongside her friends and family at Passion 2020, while road-tripping, growing, laughing, connecting, and filling her heart with so much joy and light as some of the last memories she makes for 2019. Simply put, this is Kristiona’s one Christmas wish, and she is really really hoping for a Christmas Miracle!

Kristiona is 28 years old and lives in CO

Originally, Kristiona was placed in Foster Care at the age of two where she was adopted, only to again be bounced around from foster home to foster home at the age of nine. She was adopted and then returned to foster care where she aged out. Kristiona became independent and started her college journey and has been successful at it despite everyday obstacles and medical issues. Kristiona has graduated from CMU with her Bachelor's degree and is looking at continuing her education to work with children. She currently works with an early head start preschool as a teacher and enjoys every moment. Kristiona is committed to breaking a generational cycle of abuse and lack of education. Her ultimate goal is to own and run a summer camp for children in foster care, that is not only fun, but can also provide them with therapeutic and mentoring supports.

"Hi Kristiona, I was a foster parent many years ago to a teenager that had a very similar childhood as yours. She is amazingly resilient, like you. I am so honored to fulfill your request to help you grow in your faith and friendship. I believe you will be an inspiration to others and encourage you to never give up on your dreams, faith and finding joy in life. I am sure it can be hard at times. Know that you deserve all the good things life can offer. Merry Christmas, Christy"
