Darrin is the Vice President of his local Youth Advisory board where he works to improve experiences for youth who are homeless and/or in foster care. Darrin will be aging out of foster care in October and is working extremely diligently to try to secure employment, housing, and other matters prior to losing access to services on his 21st birthday. Darrin has been through extremely difficult circumstances in his life and continues to try to do better for himself. He is the rock for his family, even when his life situation is challenging. Darrin tries to have as many new, positive experiences as possible so that his path can lead him away from the things he was raised around. When he first started with the Youth Advisory Board, he was quiet and sometimes it was unclear if he was paying attention. But if you ask him, he can tell you point-by-point what has been discussed within Middlesex County and at statewide events. It is clear that he is passionate about helping others, and especially dedicated to working with the issue of homelessness because he has experienced it himself. Darrin is the most deserving person of support and help but not quick to ask for it. He is an awesome human!
