Dominique is a strong-willed, resilient, intelligent , and insightful young woman who continues to work through the many obstacles that she has faced over the past 18 years. Dominique has experienced multiple traumatic events, including the losses of several individuals with whom she was very close to. Dominique, not having resources available to her to process these traumas, had engaged in maladaptive behaviors, which only seemed to make things worse for herself. On top of that, Dominique and her mother have been homeless for the past two years, sometimes staying with friends or in shelters, just to have a roof over their heads. Dominique has rededicated her efforts into making a better life for herself, and her mother. She was able to obtain assistance to get back into school, and is now on her way to earning her GED and enrolled in a vocational program to learn about construction. Dominique understands that obstacles will always be present, and feels much more empowered now to find positive outlets, such as journaling. She has hope for the future, something she did not previously have.
