Marisa loves to try new foods, spend quality time with her nieces and nephews, she has 17, watch soccer, dance and go to concerts. She has worked very hard over the past few years and has been able to achieve some major goals. Marisa graduated high school and went on to a four year university where she received her Bachelor's Degree. While in college she started a foster youth club on her campus, participated in a YouTube series for foster youth, presented at a national conference, and traveled to Peru with the foster youth cultural exchange group. Marisa now proudly works for the non profit that helped her when she was in care. Despite all of these amazing achievements, there have been many challenges. Her biggest obstacles have been recognizing and unlearning some of the negative familial patterns and behaviors that were influential to her. Having nothing in terms of money and support, and building a stable foundation for herself and her future has not been easy, but she has learned that over time and with a lot of patience, she can and will achieve any and everything she puts her mind to.
