Catarina arrived in the U.S. in 2023 from Guatemala after fleeing from poverty and attempting to help her mother back home. Catarina has a history of working in restaurants since arriving in the U.S. Although Catarina has faced multiple factors and barriers to adjusting to the US, such as language barriers and being placed in foster care, Catarina is determined to strengthen her ESL skills and obtain her GED once she has adjusted to becoming a mom. Catarina is a young lady who is respectful and extremely appreciative of any help that is offered. Catarina is determined to parent her daughter the best way possible and continue learning and developing as an individual. Catarina hopes to enter the workforce as soon as she receives her work permit and save up to have an apartment for her and her child.
