Josh, 14 years old, CT

Josh entered foster care in 2011 after experiencing physical abuse from his parents. Following a stay in a children's hospital, he found love and stability in a nurturing foster home, and in 2015, he was officially adopted. Now a middle school student, Josh faces challenges due to Leigh Syndrome and other medical conditions, leaving him non-verbal, non-weight-bearing, and fully dependent on his caregivers. Despite this, he has a radiant spirit that brings joy to those around him. His foster parents have dedicated their lives to his care, ensuring he has happiness and opportunities to enjoy the world. Josh loves the outdoors and enjoys being wheeled around to music and nature. He actively participates in Unified Sports, recently impressing everyone by scoring four goals during a middle school soccer tournament.
