Selene, 17 years old, OR

Selene has moved around a lot since she was eight, living in different foster homes and group homes. Because of this, it was tough for her to trust others. However, she found joy in simple things that made her feel free. Skateboarding and riding her scooter became her favorite activities, giving her a chance to feel the wind on her face and forget her worries for a little while. When she wasn’t skating, Selene loved to find a quiet spot outside with a good book. Reading was a special escape for her, allowing her to dive into different worlds and imagine new adventures. Whether it was an exciting story, a fantasy, or a tale of someone overcoming challenges, Selene enjoyed every moment. It wasn’t just about getting away; it was about dreaming big and believing that her own life could get better, too.
