Jason, 11 years old, MO

Jason’s journey hasn't been easy. After he was removed from his parents, he moved in with a relative, which has brought its own challenges. While living with family offers more safety and stability, it still means adjusting to a new home and new rules. This transition has been tough for him, especially since rebuilding trust is hard. The change constantly reminds him of what he’s lost, but it also gives him a chance to find a little more stability—something he’s wanted for a long time. Jason is quieter than many kids, but you can sense his strength. Talking about his feelings isn't easy for him, but when he does, you realize there's a lot going on in his mind. He loves cars and anything that moves, like go-karts and bikes. The excitement of speed makes him happy and is one of the few things that can bring a smile to his face. He enjoys fixing things and figuring out how they work, and his passion for cars gives him something special to focus on. Despite everything he’s been through, Jason is responsible and dependable. He takes care of the family pets without being asked, ensuring they are fed and walked. This shows his loyalty and love, even if trusting others can be challenging for him. Caring for the animals gives him a sense of routine and stability, which he really needs. Although Jason has faced a tough start in life, he’s still just a kid trying to navigate things day by day. The challenges can weigh heavily on him, but his interests, sense of responsibility, and small acts of kindness show that he’s a resilient young person looking for his place in the world.
