Monique is a young refugee who arrived in the United States with her mother after being granted asylum. They are currently living in a shelter while working to rebuild stability and adjust to life in a new country. Despite the challenges of navigating a new environment, Monique is attending school, participating in ESL classes, and actively working to learn English and adapt to her new surroundings. She is also being connected to various community resources and support services to help her and her mother overcome the hardships of shelter living and the transition into the U.S. Monique has a strong interest in art and dance, which provide her with creative outlets and emotional expression during this difficult period. Her resilience and dedication to learning continue to guide her as she adjusts to her new life.
