Jesus, 16 years old, AZ

Jesus entered foster care after his aunt brought him and his brother to Arizona because there were concerns about their safety and well-being while living with their mother. Soon after arriving, both boys became involved with DCS. Since entering care, Jesus has faced many emotional challenges, including anxiety and behavioral struggles connected to the trauma and instability he has experienced. One of the hardest parts for him has been being separated from his brother and not knowing where his mother is or if she is safe. Even through these painful experiences, he continues to show strength and deep love for his family. He misses them very much and often talks about how important family is to him. Jesus currently lives in a group home and is working hard to adjust to all the changes in his life. While he struggles emotionally at times, he responds very well to caring and supportive people who help him feel safe, understood, and encouraged. He loves playing basketball and video games, which help him cope with stress and bring him joy. He is also very smart, enjoys reading, and has a protective nature toward the people he cares about. He has a kind heart and wants others around him to feel included and cared for. What makes Jesus so special is his ability to keep showing kindness and love despite everything he has been through. He values relationships deeply, cares so much about his family, and has a spirit that leaves a lasting impact on the people who know him.
